“(Y/N),” Your boyfriend of three years, Phil Lester, whined from the open doorway of your personal office. “Please come to bed, love. You can finish this in the morning.”

You didn’t move a muscle from your plush office chair and continued to type away at your laptop. Your left eye would twitch somewhat from exhaustion but would stop when you blinked. The half empty cup of coffee next to you had grown lukewarm sometime ago but you still drank it in one gulp. The room was dark but the bright glare of your laptop’s screen casted long shadows on the walls.

It was finals week at your university and your English Lit class required a 10-paragraph essay on the similarities and differences between Macbeth and Hamlet. You loved literature more than the next guy, but that love was somewhat bruised from the large homework load it came with. It was your fault for registering in such an advanced class. But you only had three weeks left until your junior year of university was completed. Thank God for that.

“In a minute, Philly.” You say as you stifled a yawn as you cracked your knuckles, rereading the half-done paragraph that you typed up. “Let me finish this paragraph and I’ll be in bed in no time.”

“You said that a half hour ago, (Y/N).” Phil’s groggily voice answered back as he walked closer to your sitting form, his footsteps muffled by the plush carpet. He stopped right behind your chair and leaned forward, resting his chin on top of your head. It was a strain to lean over the huge chair, but Phil wanted to see how far you had gotten in your essay in the past few hours.

Scanning through the typed words on the screen, Phil only saw five of the required ten completed. You had been sitting at your laptop for the past six hours, since seven in the evening. Your classes ran from eight in the morning to five-thirty in the evening. Because you live so far from the university you attended, you had to wake up at seven and not be able to come home until six-thirty. Phil would sometimes tag along for the taxi ride when he needs to take care of errands but you’d mostly commute alone. It broke his heart when Phil would see you walk into the flat with the mentally exhausted look in your beautiful (e/c) eyes. How your locks of (h/c) hair would be messy and tangled from you running your fingers through them as you struggled to concentrate. He would just want to call you in sick and sleep the day away with you. But of course, with you being headstrong and determined on your studies, Phil did not have the power to do so.

“(Y/N).” Phil spoke, his voice hard and stern, very out of character for the usual upbeat and bubbly Englishman. You shuddered but continued to type away.

But just as you clicked ‘save’ on the document, your laptop screen turned black, leaving you and Phil in a pitch black room. You pressed the power button but then realized your error. This caused you to curse under your breath.

The laptop charger.

It was still in your book bag, in your and Phil’s shared bedroom.

Phil must have read your mind because he then spun your chair around and took you into his arms, carrying you bridal style out of the dark room and down the hall to your room. You yelped in surprised because Phil was pretty skinny and looked to have no upper-body strength. But it seems you have been wronged. Phil tossed you onto the bed and flopped down next to you. He pulled the covers over the both of you and pulled you into a warm embrace, tucking his face into the crook of your neck.

“Phil~” You whined, trying to squirm out of your boyfriend’s grip. “I need to finish that paper. My professor is going to kill me!”

Phil chuckled, his breath tickling your neck. “Please get some sleep, (Y/N).” He murmured. “Even if it’s just for an hour or two. The last thing I need is you collapsing from exhaustion. I love you too much for that to happen to you.”

You couldn’t help but smile. Phil had cared about you so much. Ever since you guys became friends a year before you two became a couple. Phil Lester had a huge heart and never stopped caring, even when he was doubted. He cared about you and Dan, his best friend, so much that he even said he’d take a bullet for both of you guys. He cared so much about your mental stability and health that he’d insist on making you dinner if you were not able to. This was one of the many prospects of Phil that made you love him from the moon and back.

“Okay, Philly.” you murmured as your eyes grew heavy, sleep slowly taking over. “I love you.”

You heard a soft “I love you too.” before you drifted off.
